I am honored to lead the Resources Division at LifeWay and serve with a team of leaders who are passionate to serve the Church in Her mission of making disciples. Each Wednesday, I share the heart behind one of the resources our team has developed and give an opportunity for you to register to win a free copy of the resource. This week’s resource is a full year of Bible Studies for Life: Kids in digital format.
Now, more than ever before, kids need a deep and strong spiritual foundation. I desire for my daughters to know the truth and to know what they believe and why they believe it. I want my kids to be able to defend their faith in Christ and to know how biblical truths relate to their everyday life. As they look at today’s culture, they will need a deep and wide biblical worldview.
The reality is that my wife and I, along with the Church, are not the only influences fighting to develop our kids’ worldview. Satan is very active and seeks to devour people of all ages. Because children are so impressionable, surely our enemy seeks to blind the minds of children to the truth and grace of Jesus.
As Christian parents and leaders, we must commit to laying biblical foundations in the lives of our kids. These foundations must be deep enough to hold strong when challenged by Satan’s lies, yet wide enough to show compassion to those spreading the untruths. They should be deep enough to withstand ridicule and persecution, yet wide enough to reflect and share Christ’s love to those waging the attack. The Church must take seriously our responsibility to “train up” these kids and help place in their hearts a biblical worldview that equips and prepares them to be lifelong, on-mission, growing followers and lovers of Jesus Christ.
It’s my privilege to work with people who understand the importance and urgency of equipping kids to view society from a biblical perspective. While there are many curricula that satisfy the need, Bible Studies for Life: Kids especially focuses on helping kids grow in their biblical knowledge at a pace aligned with their development. The top priority of Bible Studies for Life: Kids is to connect God’s Word to kids’ lives in an intentional way and to equip them to do so themselves. Foundational Bible stories and creative hands-on learning activities are combined each week to build up a biblical worldview in kids of all ages. This hour of life application, when repeated on a weekly schedule, will ultimately prepare kids to view life issues in the way Scripture compels.
