A little over a year ago Chris Martin suggested I take some of the blogs/articles I have written and turn them into five minute Facebook Live videos. For the last few years Chris has been the one to nudge me in all things social media.
I agreed to give it a shot, so we started filming the videos on his phone without any other equipment. Eventually, we started plugging in a microphone to the phone after folks said they liked the content but could barely hear me, and since then we have progressively improved the presentation.
Because we kept hearing feedback that they were helpful to leaders, in local churches and in the marketplace, we kept recording Facebook videos, some live and some not. Sometimes a few thousand people watch and sometimes as many as 10-15 thousand people have tapped in, which is crazy because it is me, and Chris, and his phone, and I mispronounce names, struggle to say big words, and fumble through the content at times.
Because we now have a bunch of videos, we have decided to post some of them on YouTube. It is hard for folks to go back and watch past Facebook videos, so putting them all in one place on YouTube should make it easier for people to watch multiple videos.
We are also going to experiment with posting video on YouTube first, rather than on Facebook—as with the video below. The plan is 1) to keep the videos around five minutes long and 2) continue to speak to leaders. In a recent blog survey, we found that 35% of those who interact with my content are marketplace leaders and 65% are ministry leaders. The vast majority of those who read are leading others and leading teams, so the bulk of the content will be focused on them. Many of you also said on the survey that you would prefer to watch videos on YouTube.
So with that long intro, if you want to subscribe to the channel, you can do so here. We’ll be posting videos there weekly.
